Nashua NH School gets spruce up by Fidelity Volunteers
One of the state's largest middle schools In Nashua NH got a major makeover Friday, when nearly 200 volunteers helped spruce up the building for the start of the new school year.


Elm Street School Nashua NHElm Street Middle School in Nashua NH is one of 10 schools throughout the nation to participate in Fidelity Investments' national partnership with Boston Cares, a HandsOn Network local action center. The program is designed to help revitalize learning environments for middle school students.

Volunteers from Fidelity Investments' Merrimack NH regional center and Fidelity's Nashua NH investment center helped with Friday's transformation day, in addition to several local students and teachers.

The group took over the school's classrooms and hallways, providing a fresh coat of paint, murals and inspirational messages throughout the building. Work was done to the outside of the facility as well, as flower beds were built and the courtyards were refurbished.

This is the second year in a row that workers from Fidelity Investments, Nashua and Merrimack, visited the city school to make needed improvements.

In addition to all of the work throughout the school, the company also donated several rolls of paper, 30 personal computers and 15 laptops to the Title I school. 

This fall, Fidelity Investments also plans to donate bookcases and teacher desks to the school. New furniture for the conference room and teacher's lounge has already been delivered.

School banners and three murals were being placed throughout the school, some of them developed by students from the New Hampshire Institute of Art.
